Q: What is an Inventure FMS Gateway?
A: Inventure FMS Gateway is an interface that provides vehicle specific information (fuel consumption, fuel level, odometer, rpm, pedal position, etc) on its output according to FMS standard (RS232 output is optional). The FMS CAN output messages can be directly processed by GPS based fleet management (AVL) systems.
Besides the standard solution, the device function can be extended with optional information on vehicle, such as ECO-driving information, tachograph data and trailer information.
Q: What is a CAN-Bus based fuel measurement?
A: CAN-Bus based fuel measurement is available in most of modern vehicles. It has many advantages over fuel flow meters and fuel level sensors, such as lower costs, easy installation and additional information about the vehicle.
Inventure FMS Gateway connects to vehicle CAN-Bus and it collects fuel consumption data directly from motor control ECU.
Q: What is an FMS Standard?
A: FMS Standard is a CAN-Bus based interface standard for Fleet Management Systems. For more information about FMS Standard please visit our wiki.
Q: What is an ECO-driving?
A: Eco-driving means smarter and more fuel-efficient driving. Eco-driving represents a new driving culture that makes best use of advanced vehicle technologies, while improving road safety. An important component of sustainable mobility, Eco-driving considerably contributes to climate protection and pollution reduction. Inventure FMS Gateway has built-in high precision algorithms to measure driving behaviour and provide ECO-driving information. For more information see Eco-Driving in our wiki.
Q: What are driving times?
A: Driving times are important for drivers driving heavy duty vehicles equipped with tachograph unit.
Inventure FMS Gateways are able to provide driver identification and driving times information (such as continuous driving time, cumulative brake time, etc.). Driving times helps to meet the EU regulation about driving hours and brake times. For more information about driving times please visit our wiki.
Q: In which vehicles the Inventure FMS Gateway can be installed?
A: The Inventure FMS Gateway can be installed in all vehicle types (trucks, vans, passenger cars, buses, agricultural, construction vehicles) equipped with CAN bus system. Our supported vehicle list provides you a guideline on the off-the-shelf solutions. Should you need solution for any vehicle not listed there, please contact us and we will develop new solution quickly.
Q: How to install Inventure FMS Gateway?
A: Inventure FMS Gateway connects to vehicle CAN bus. Each device that you buy is followed by an Installation Guide that provides guideline – with detailed instructions and pictures - on the installation steps. Should you need further assistance on installation, please contact us.
Q: How to connect Inventure FMS Gateway to in-vehicles communication buses and are there any warranty issues?
A: Inventure FMS Gateway is connected to vehicle CAN bus via non-intrusive, contactless solution (by CL-CAN adapter). This connection ensures safe data read from vehicle CAN bus without any disruption. The non-galvanic connection guarantees that no signal is sent back to vehicle CAN bus and vehicle warranty issues can be avoided then. Inventure FMS Gateway has a UN ECE type approval certification (katt a dokumentumra)
Q: I am using AVL device that does not have CAN output, is there any solution for this situation?
A: For those telematic devices (AVLs) which are not able to connect CAN bus Inventure Inventure FMS Gateway provide standard serial (RS232 based) output interface.
Q: I need flexible solution to react on customer requirements quickly. How Inventure can help me?
A: Inventure FMS Gateway provides you flexibility, as vehicle specific firmware can be uploaded into the device any time. All you need is a PC, an FMS Gateway Support Tool PC software and the appropriate vehicle specific firmware. This solution allows you to react quickly to urgent customer needs, as device configuration is at your hand. Please contact us for details.
Q: Inventure FMS Gateway has been installed in the vehicle but it does not seem to work. What should I do?
A: Please follow the below checking rules and make sure all is ok:
- Check vehicle type and firmware version and make sure that the device is configured to (e.g. Mercedes-Benz Sprinter) the vehicle you want to perform the installation.
- Make sure Installation Guide is available for the appropriate vehicle type.
- Make sure you follow the steps in the Installation Guide.
- Check Inventure FMS Gateway LED status to identify device operation status
If all the above steps followed and the device does not deliver the data you expected, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will contact you shortly.
Q: What does telematics mean?
A: Telematics links the areas of telecommunication and information technology linking information from at least two information systems using a telecommunication system and a special form of data processing.
